Mike was born on July 28, 1964. He grew up within walking distance of Raceway Park (Blue Island, Illinois) and attended grade school across the street from the track. Mike now resides in Monee, Illinois with his wife, Renee, and their three children Taylor, Eric, and Amber. In addition to racing, Mike is a self-employed Cabinet Maker/Remodeler.
In the beginning of his career, Mike raced open-wheel quarter midgets for four years, beginning at the age of 12. Mike began racing late model stock cars at Raceway Park in 1986, finished second in the final points, winning three feature races in his rookie season.captured his racing efforts at the Grundy County Speedway (Morris, Illinois) on Friday nights and Illiana Motor Speedway (Schererville, Indiana) on Saturday nights; winning the Grundy track championship three times - 1993, 1995 and 1996; and winning three championship crowns at Illiana - 1997 - 1999. Mike has also competed in NASCAR touring series competition, as well as in American Speed Association (ASA) racing.
